1873: The First Great Depression and the Making of the Modern World

READ
This is Liaquat Ahamed's second book, the first being the brilliant "Lords of Finace".
While the premise of the book is interesting, the author is really stretching it when he mentions that this was the first global crisis. The events that unfolded there were mainly due to European developments, while the largest "global" development was the move from bimetallism to the gold standard (an interesting view nonetheless).
The parts of the story where the Rothschilds are involved are the most interesting ones.
READ IF: You enjoy economic history, especially seeing parallels between world events.
PASS IF: You were looking for a crisis/stock market collapse story.
